[Thoughts/ Progress/ Mildy Interesting] Integrating chord sounds and playing using fake sheet. It's getting hard.
Last couple of weeks have been interesting. Soon after finishing Bagatelle, I also completed Melody in G by Ludvig Schytte. Instead of doing a song a week, I was able to wrap it up in 2 - 3 days.
So we decided to move on to "Over the rainbow" which has been one of my favorite sweet song. But the bigger thing is when playing you can make play it as advanced as you like. What do I mean by that? Okay so now instead of hitting just the C-major chord if the sheet tells you to everytime. You shift it to it's first inversion the next beat and the second inversion after which leads to lot of hand jumping.
And I don't know my chords by heart which makes it incredibly difficult and overwhelming. That's just the left hand. Earlier the melody in the right hand would usually be a single note but that has changed. I can still do the single note but a better way to play it is - playing the octave of the note. An even better way to play, is by filling the octave with chord sounds.
Again pretty much, its gonna take a long time to learn this plus it's also moving away from a muscle memory style of playing to a more natural way of playing the piano where if I played the song 10 different times. It would sound a bit different everytime but still be the same which is very cool.
I'm also gonna keep the updates a bit more spaced out because things take time and I want to share more major accomplishments. If I finish this, I am gonna be in disbelief of what I am capable of. Already if I look down at the piano while playing and I see my fingers playing - I mess it up because I don't know how they are moving like that but still a long way to go.
Fin.
